73-Year-Old Homer Crawford Killed, Dana Kendrick Critically Injured in Accident on Highway 96 [Jasper County, TX]

Homer Crawford Identified in Fatal Rollover Accident in Jasper County

 
JASPER COUNTY, TX (May 22, 2024) – Officials identified 73-year-old Homer Crawford of Beaumont who died in an accident on Highway 96 on May 9.
 
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the crash happened near the Neches River at approximately 12:30 AM. Based on a report, Crawford was driving a 2014 Dodge pickup truck on the highway at the time of the crash.
 
Due to unknown reasons, the vehicle hit the guardrail on the bridge over the river and rolled over several times. The impact threw him and his passenger, 49-year-old Dana Kendrick, from the truck. Police said Crawford was thrown into the river and Kendrick ended up on the road.
 
As a result, Kendrick suffered critical injuries in the incident. Emergency crews rushed her to Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont in critical condition.
 
Two days later, searchers found Crawford’s body in the Neches River off Highway 96 near Evadale. He was dead at the scene.
 
This crash remains under investigation, and no further information is available.
