Fatal Pedestrian Accident on Sahara Avenue in Las Vegas

 
LAS VEGAS, NV (August 20, 2024) — A 64-year-old died in a pedestrian accident on Sahara Avenue on Friday, August 2.
 
According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, the accident happened at around 10:45 p.m. on West Sahara Avenue east of South Valley View Boulevard.
 
Investigators said that a Lexus traveled westbound on Sahara Avenue, east of Valley View Boulevard. Then a pedestrian in a motorized wheelchair crossed Sahara Avenue outside of a marked crosswalk.
 
Police said the accident happened when the pedestrian crossed the path of an oncoming Lexus. Then the front right of the Lexus crashed into the right side of the pedestrian. The impact of the incident brought him to the roadway.
 
Emergency responders arrived and brought the pedestrian to UMC’s Trauma Unit. He later died from sustained injuries.
 
Officers said the driver of the Lexus stayed at the scene and did not display any signs of intoxication.
 
The accident marked the 90th traffic-related death in LVMPD’s jurisdiction for this year.
 
The LVMPD’s Collision Investigation Section continues to investigate the crash.
