Samuel Gamboa Dead in Two-Vehicle Crash in Rio Grande City

 
RIO GRANDE CITY, TX (January 22, 2025) — Six-year-old Samuel Rafael Gamboa died in a two-vehicle accident on Friday, January 17.
 
According to Rio Grande City Police Chief Jose Solis, the crash occurred around 7:31 a.m. on Highway 83 and FM 3167.
 
Chief Solis said the incident Gamboa was on his way to school when the two-vehicle accident occurred.
 
Emergency responders arrived and transported Gamboa to Starr County Memorial Hospital for treatment. Despite efforts, he succumbed to his injuries and died at 7:55 a.m.
 
The two other individuals involved in the collision sustained minor injuries.
 
Officials stated that impairment does not appear to be a contributing factor.
 
Chief Solis urged the public to prioritize road safety. “A split second can change somebody’s life,” he said.
 
Authorities continue to investigate this tragic incident. They encourage all drivers to exercise caution on the road.
