Police Chase Ends in Crash, Arrest of 19-Year-Old Anthony Cavazos in League City

 
LEAGUE CITY, TX (May 6, 2024) – The League City Police Department arrested 19-year-old Anthony Cavazos of Bacliff following a crash on 45 Freeway on April 23.
 
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the crash happened at FM 518/Main Street around 7:36 PM. Based on a report, a League City officer initially tried to pull over Cavazos who was driving a white Toyota sedan on the northbound side of the freeway.
 
Subsequently, Cavazos fled away from the authorities and a chase ensued. Police said the speeds reached more than 100 miles per hour. Cavazos then attempted to drive through the freeway and FM 518 intersection, where he collided with a gray Hyundai Tucson. His vehicle then careened off the other car and slammed into the wall supporting the overpass.
 
As a result, Cavazos, an adult, and an 11-year-old child in the Hyundai suffered injuries. Crews transported them to the hospital for treatment.
 
Officials said the injuries were not classified as life-threatening.
 
Police arrested and charged Cavazos with evading arrest or detention with a vehicle. His bond was set at $40,000.
 
As of now, an investigation into the case is ongoing. In addition, no other details are available.
