Teen Seriously Hurt in Bicycle Accident on McClintock Drive
TEMPE, AZ (February 28, 2025) — A 13-year-old boy suffered serious injuries after a bicycle accident on Saturday, February 8.
Tempe police said the crash occurred around 11:00 a.m. near McClintock Drive and Watson Drive, just north of Guadalupe Road.
According to investigators, an elderly man driving on McClintock Drive ran a red light at Watson Drive. Then he struck the teenager, who was on the crosswalk on his bicycle.
Emergency crews transported the boy to the hospital with serious injuries.
The driver remained at the scene following the crash.
Authorities have closed McClintock Drive from Southshore Drive to Julie Drive, between Baseline Road and Guadalupe Roads. It has since reopened.
The investigation of the incident is still underway.
