Alex Mackiewicz Dead after Highlands Ranch Pedestrian Accident

 
HIGHLANDS RANCH, CO (March 15, 2024) — A 13-year-old boy identified as Alex Mackiewicz died in a pedestrian accident on Wednesday, March 6.
 
According to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, the incident took place at Venneford Ranch Road and Highlands Ranch Parkway at around 7:15 a.m.
 
Reports said a van struck Mackiewicz while crossing the Highlands Ranch intersection on his way to Mountain Ridge Middle School. He sustained fatal injuries and died.
 
The driver remained at the scene of the crash, according to the sheriff’s office.
 
Loved ones made a GoFundMe page to help Alex’s family with funeral and other expenses. As of writing, community members have donated more than $42,000.
