AVONDALE, AZ (February 21, 2025) — An 11-year-old boy died in a scooter accident on 107th Avenue on Monday, February 17.
 
According to the Avondale Police, the accident occurred at 107th Avenue and Thomas Road at about 5:00 p.m.
 
Investigators said the boy rode an electric scooter while crossing the intersection. Then a vehicle struck him.
 
Emergency crews arrived and transported him to a hospital, where he later died.
 
The driver remained at the scene. Officers later arrested the driver on suspicion of impairment. They have not yet disclosed the driver’s identity or any potential charges.
 
The victim was a student at Garden Lakes Elementary School. His classmates and the school community are mourning his loss. Pablo Picasso, a close friend, described him as a talented athlete and someone who always made people laugh.
