Three Killed, Identified after Fatal Semi-Truck Accident in Snoqualmie Pass

 
SNOQUALMIE PASS, WA (March 21, 2023) – A Yakima man, his cousin and 10-year-old daughter died in a semi-truck accident on 90 Freeway on March 16.
 
A verified GoFundMe post identified the victims as 40-year-old Justin Poole, his cousin 27-year-old Michaela Buckholt, and his 10-year-old daughter Chelsea Poole, all of Yakima.
 
A semi-truck traveling west crossed over the median and crashed head-on into a a Kia Optima that was traveling east on 90 Freeway.
 
Justin Poole died at the scene. Officials transported Chelsea and Michaela to a hospital, where they both later died.
 
Justin’s wife, Nikki, and 6-year-old son, Maddox, were taken to Seattle’s Harborview Medical Center for treatment of severe injuries. Maddox needed to be intubated and required brain surgery.
 
The driver of the truck, 42-year-old Danny Ellingford of Pasco, did not sustain injuries.
 
Ellingford was driving a truck with UPS logos. UPS in a statement said they are saddened and extend their sympathies to those involved.
 
At this point, an investigation into the accident is ongoing.
