Car Catches Fire in Fatal Accident in Grand Junction

 
GRAND JUNCTION, CO (March 6, 2023) – The Grand Junction Police Department confirmed that one person died in a car accident on 30 Road on February 28.
 
According to the Colorado State Patrol, the collision happened at E Road around 12:40 AM. Based on a report, the victim was a passenger in a car traveling westbound on E Road before the crash.
 
As the car approached the intersection, it ran off the road, struck a mobile home, and continued approximately 75 more yards before coming to a stop and catching fire.
 
As a result, the victim died at the scene due to severe injuries. Officials did not yet release his name, pending kin notification.
 
Crews with the Grand Junction Fire Department transported the car’s male driver and male passenger to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
 
Red Cross responded to assist the family displaced from their mobile home.
 
Police are looking at speed and alcohol as factors in the crash. As of now, an investigation into the case is ongoing.
