Pedestrian Suffers Major Injuries, Hit-and-Run Driver Gary Bernardo Arrested in Fairfield

 
FAIRFIELD, CA (February 7, 2023) – The Fairfield Police Department arrested 56-year-old Gary Bernardo after a hit-and-run pedestrian accident on Beck Avenue on February 5.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened shortly after 5:00 PM. Based on a report, witnesses reported Bernardo as he swerved into the center median of the road and hit a person walking between the double lines.
 
Subsequently, Bernardo fled away from the scene.
 
As a result, the pedestrian suffered major injuries in the incident.
 
Officials found and arrested Bernardo in a fast-food parking lot on Central Place. They booked him into County Jail for the hit-and-run and for driving with a suspended license.
