Driver Wanted after Fatal Hit-And-Run Crash on Highway 225 in Houston

 
HOUSTON, TX (October 4, 2022) – Police confirmed the death of a 76-year-old man following a hit-and-run crash on Highway 225 on October 1.
 
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the collision happened around 6:00 AM. Based on a report, a red Toyota Corolla stopped and had its hazard lights on in the main lanes of the freeway.
 
At the same time, a white Kia Optima was going eastbound. Due to unknown reasons, the Optima rear-ended the Corolla and its driver fled on foot after.
 
Shortly after, a white Ford F-150 reportedly crashed into the Optima, which caused it to hit the Corolla again.
 
As a result, the victim who was driving the Corolla died at the hospital. Officials did not yet release his name, pending kin notification.
 
The driver of the Ford was not hurt in the incident.
 
As of now, Houston police ask anyone with information on the wanted driver of the Optima to contact the Houston Police Department Hit and Run Unit at 713-247-4072 or speak anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
