Cosme Espinoza Killed, Marianna Dickerson and Three Others Hurt after Weatherford Car Accident
WEATHERFORD, TX (January 10, 2025) — Cosme Espinoza died and four people sustained injuries in a two-vehicle accident on Thursday, January 2.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the incident happened on 20 Freeway at about 8:51 a.m. on 20 Freeway near Oakridge Drive.
Texas DPS said the crash occurred after a 2000 Honda CRV entered the eastbound 20 Freeway near mile marker 414. The Honda entered directly in front of a light gray Jeep Wrangler that went around the Honda and slowed down. It then caused the Honda to swerve and lose control. After that, the Honda rolled into the westbound lanes and ejected three occupants.
Paramedics arrived and then pronounced one of the passengers of the Honda dead at the scene. Officials identified her as 33-year-old Cosme Espinoza, of Lancaster.
Paramedics brought all four other occupants of the Honda to Texas Health Harris Methodist in Fort Worth with minor injuries.
They identified the Honda driver as 21-year-old Marianna Dickerson, of Springtown. Other passengers in the Honda included 41-year-old Leah Gutierrez, of Dallas, 23-year-old Brandon Tristan, of Dallas, and 18-year-old Jae-Sun Clampitt, of San Antonio.
Meanwhile, the Jeep’s driver fled the scene. Officials described him as a black man in his late 40s-early 50s.
Authorities continue to investigate the incident as a potential road rage case.
