Child Struck and Seriously Injured by Vehicle on 48th Street in Tempe
TEMPE, AZ (January 6, 2025) – The Tempe Police Department confirmed a 9-year-old child suffered injuries in a pedestrian accident on 48th Street on December 24.
According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the collision happened at Baseline Road just before 4:00 PM. Based on a report, a vehicle hit the child at the intersection.
As a result, the child sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The victim was taken to the hospital for treatment.
The driver of the car did not remain on scene.
Road closures were in place in the area and crews urged drivers to use Southern Avenue or Broadway Road as alternate routes.
As of now, an investigation into the case is ongoing. In addition, no other details are available.
