David Juarez Dies after Phoenix Car Accident
PHOENIX, AZ (March 14, 2024) — A 19-year-old man identified as David Juarez died in a fiery crash on Thursday, February 29.
According to the Phoenix fire officials, the crash took place near 67th Avenue and Van Buren Street shortly after 1:00 p.m.
Phoenix Police said that Juarez’s car collided into several parked vehicles. The impact caused at least two vehicles to burst into flames. Phoenix firefighters quickly extinguished the fire.
Authorities pronounced Juarez dead at the scene. Paramedics transported a second person to the hospital with serious injuries.
Officers said they discovered an individual with a gunshot wound in the vehicle. After that, they detained a passenger in the vehicle who they said was uncooperative.
During this time, there were additional emergency calls about a shooting involving the same car from the accident. Police discovered evidence of a shooting at a nearby home. However, there are no victims or suspects found.
As of writing, it’s not clear what caused the crash or when the shooting occurred.
It’s not yet determined if Juarez died because of the shooting or crash. Phoenix police said the Maricopa County Medical Examiner’s Office will determine his cause of death in the coming weeks.
