COLORADO SPRINGS, CO (January 19, 2024) — Officials arrested Adam Russell after a multi-car DUI accident on Thursday, January 4.
 
According to the Colorado Springs Police Department, the incident happened just before 3:45 p.m. on the 25 Freeway at the South Circle Drive exit.
 
CSPD said a vehicle was in the left lane of 25 Freeway heading southbound. Then it drifted out of the lane and struck the center median. The impact caused it to ricochet back into traffic.
 
After that, the vehicle hit the front of an on-duty Huerfano County Sheriff’s Office cruiser. Then it rotated and struck the rear of the cruiser a second time.
 
CSPD said both vehicles sustained significant damage and crews towed both cars from the scene.
 
Officials identified the driver of the vehicle that hit the median as Adam Russell. They arrested him for Driving Under the Influence and other related traffic charges.
 
Authorities said they reduced the 25 Freeway to one lane during the investigation.
