Motorcyclist Killed in Fatal Accident Involving DUI Driver Pedro Chavez-Martinez in Las Vegas
LAS VEGAS, NV (January 10, 2024) – The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department arrested 45-year-old Pedro Chavez-Martinez following a motorcycle accident on Flamingo Road on December 31.
According to the Nevada State Police, the collision happened at South Seville Street around 11:40 PM. Based on a report, a 35-year-old man from Canyon Country, California was riding a motorcycle east on Flamingo Road at a high rate of speed.
At the same time, a 2005 Nissan Titan pickup truck was heading west on the road and tried to make a left turn. A collision occurred, ejecting the victim from his motorcycle.
As a result, the rider suffered grave injuries and died at the scene. Authorities did not release his name, pending notification of next of kin.
Chavez-Martinez remained on the scene. Police say he showed signs of impairment and was booked on suspicion of DUI, plus child endangerment because a 9-year-old passenger was with him.
As of now, an investigation into the case is ongoing. In addition, no other details are available.
