Grandmother Maria Tambunga, Granddaughter Emilia Tambunga Identified in Fatal Ozona Crash

 
OZONA, TX (March 22, 2023) – Officers identified 71-year-old Maria Tambunga and her 7-year-old granddaughter, Emilia Tambunga, as the victims who died in a high-speed crash on Avenue E on March 13.
 
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the collision happened near 15th Street.
 
Based on a report, a Trooper attempted to stop 22-year-old Rassian Comer of Louisiana for a speeding violation prior to the crash. Subsequently, Comer kept going, ensuing a pursuit. At the intersection, she ran a red light and crashed head-on into a pickup truck carrying the Tambungas.
 
As a result, the Tambungas suffered grave injuries and died in the incident. Emilia was a second-grader at Ozona Elementary School.
 
Troopers said that two out of the 11 illegal migrants inside Comer’s 2021 Dodge pickup also died in the crash. Both were from Mexico.
 
Comer suffered serious injuries and remained at the hospital.
 
As of now, the case remains under investigation. In addition, no other details are available.
