Wrong-Way Driver Aaron Dexter Charged in Fiery Multi-Vehicle Crash on Guide Meridian Road in Bellingham

 
BELLINGHAM, WA (June 28, 2023) – Officers identified 45-year-old Aaron Dexter of Blaine as one of the seven people who suffered injuries in a wrong-way crash on Guide Meridian Road on June 21.
 
According to the Washington State Patrol, the collision happened just south of Kelly Road around 7:00 PM. Based on a report, Dexter was heading north in the southbound lanes on the Guide prior to the crash.
 
Subsequently, Dexter sideswiped a car heading south near Kelly before hitting a third vehicle head-on. He continued driving north, hitting a fourth vehicle and sending it into a ditch. In the end, his vehicle burst into flames.
 
As a result, Dexter and his 10-year-old passenger suffered injuries in the incident. Crews took them and a 20-year-old passenger of one of the other vehicles to Harborview Medical Center. Crews also took three other drivers and a 3-year-old passenger to Peacehealth St. Joseph Medical Center for treatment.
 
WSP believed Dexter was under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of the crash.
 
At this point, charges are pending.
