Duarte Sisters Identified in Fatal Bakersfield Crash on McKee Road
BAKERSFIELD, CA (March 20, 2023) – Officials identified 15-year-old Jennifer Duarte and 21-year-old Karime Duarte as the sisters who died in a car crash on McKee Road on March 4.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened near Highway 99 around 3:00 AM. Based on a report, the victims’ father said he received a call from Karime that two cars were chasing them on McKee Road.
As he went out to look for them, he found a fiery crash scene on McKee Road near Highway 99. Her daughters’ Honda caught fire after it collided with a Dodge pickup truck.
As a result, Karime and Jennifer died in the incident.
The victims’ third sister, 23-year-old Diana Ponce, suffered severe injuries.
The sisters’ loved ones set up a GoFundMe account to help with their funeral expenses.
Officials did not yet release the cause of the accident. As of now, an investigation into the case is ongoing.
