Fatal Bicycle Accident on Farm-to-Market Road 741 in Forney

 
FORNEY, TX (November 9, 2022) – Police confirmed the death of a 14-year-old child in a bicycle accident in the 4400 block of Farm-to-Market Road 741 on November 7.
 
According to the Texas Safety Department, the collision happened around 6:10 PM between Thelma Lane and Griffin Lane.
 
Based on a report, a minor was bicycling on the road with the victim riding on the rear pegs at the time of the crash. They were northbound in the lane of traffic when a black Lexus passenger vehicle struck the back of the bicycle.
 
As a result, Crandall Fire Department, Crandall Police Department, and Kaufman County Sheriff’s officers said the passenger died at the scene. They did not yet release the victim’s name, pending kin notification.
 
Crews transported the other child to Baylor University Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.
 
Officers said very dim lighting was a factor in the crash. As of now, the crash remains under investigation.
